The what?

So the largest barrier to me starting a technical blog hasn't been material, its been a name. All the good ones have been taken by now, I'm a little late to the party. I have another Blog (well I have two, you are only going to find out about one right now) for my one of my "Right Brain" activities, photography The Agile Photographer complete with a catchy little technical name and all.

So what about the name?

I wanted a name that will distinguish this blog from my artistic side, something that is "Left Brain" related. Again, all the good names had been taken. What could I use to get that point of "Left" across?

Recently a co-worker sent an email out (sorry if you are reading this) that was out of left field. I didn't want to just come out and say that, so I implied it by mentioning I had some decent "Monster Seats".

Yeah, lame. But I am in New England, I am a Red Sox fan (it is a requirement up here), and I have actually watched a game from the Monster Seats (which rocked by the way, even though the Sox lost to KC. Pedrioa did get his first Major League home run, a shot into the Monster Seats, about 15 feet from where we were sitting).

So yeah, this name will fit. It has that "Left" coded, hidden, implication. It will most likely contain entries that will be interpretted as coming out of Left Field. And it is sexy as all hell.

So there will be more entries, I won't bore you with them here.

I've been coding a long time. I started on a TRS-80 Model III (Level 1 w/ 4K RAM and NO Tape Drive). I still have said TRS-80, it's upstairs in a closet somewhere, that is the topic of another entry. I believe one of the first things I saw on that TRS-80 was "BASIC... Licensed by Microsoft (c) 1980" (or something like that). I've been a Microsoft-Technology geek since then.

I am writing this on a Macbook Pro, I made that switch last April.

I am going to end this post so I can get back to my current side project which involves mucking around with ActiveMQ with Java and c++ [ActiveMQ-CPP/CMS] and soon to be MSMQ integration. I bet I will have some interesting tales to tell about this.
